Dr. Lea L. De Guzman, EdD, the sole 40-year service awardee, gave the Response from the Awardees, as she looked back on her journey of “growth and transformation” as a Louisian educator.

“What keeps me going in service? The first key element of my longevity is purpose. Second is the value of passion. The third element is the value of people. The fourth key element is prayer,” said Dr. De Guzman.

Further, she expressed her utmost gratitude to the institution and to the people along her journey from “a very young instructor with a dream” to someone whose life “has been profoundly changed by SLC.”

Dr. Abraham F. Dilim, a retiring Catholic Faith Education (CFE) faculty member, led the blessing of the employees and candle lighting for the awardees.

Meanwhile, as one of the event’s highlights, selected Louisian Merit Awardees, who “exemplified meritorious performance in their discharge of duties and responsibilities,” were announced and awarded.

Following the singing of the College Hymn, Rev. Fr. Rumpearl Tengkings Isaac, CICM, led the prayer before meals. The event concluded with photo opportunities and a short socialization night.

With the theme “Pilgrims of Hope: Embracing the Transformative Power of Catholic Education and Missionary Endeavors,” the ceremony not only honored the excellence of SLC employees, but it also reinforced the institution’s commitment to its core values.

As the awardees celebrated their milestones, their stories of perseverance, passion, and purpose served as an inspiration to the entire Louisian community.
