CSC Kicks off Balangay Fair ’24

To help student organizations reorganize and reintroduce their initiatives, Saint Louis College (SLC), through the 40th College Student Council (CSC), kicked off this year’s Balangay Fair 2024 as part of its celebration of the Louisian Identity Month, Sep. 9.

“The Balangay Fair aims to introduce the different opportunities for college. As Louisians, we are not only bound on our academic endeavors,” said Manuel Luis Victor Ancheta, CSC President.

Various student organizations created their own themed booths and prepared fun-filled activities for the visitors. Louisians are also given passports that get stamped each time they visit a booth.

“Louisian tayo,” added Ancheta. “Embrace the Louisian spirit as we join the different organizations here at SLC, and be part of the noble movement.”
Out of all the student organizations, only The Louisian Red Cross skipped the fair. In a Facebook post, the organization shared the opening of their membership, seeking Louisian volunteers.

Rainy Weather

Originally, the fair was scheduled Sep. 4-6, but it was rescheduled to Sep. 9-11 because of Typhoon Enteng.
Also, prolonged rainfall yesterday morning caused delays and inconveniences, which led to the rescheduling of the opening ceremony from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

No Opening Ceremony

The ribbon-cutting for the opening ceremony was also cancelled due to an emergency meeting of the school’s management.
Meanwhile, the Student Affairs Office notified the students to report “any malicious change” on their Google Suite accounts.
A message was relayed last Sunday to student organization group chats reminding students to “change the password of their GSuite account to safeguard it from hackers or scammers.”
