Reaffirming its commitment to advancing the mission of Catholic education, Saint Louis College – San Fernando, La Union joined the 2026 CEAP Regional Assembly Region 1 + Abra on August 1 at the Teatro Ilocandia, Mariano Marcos State University in Batac City, Ilocos Norte.
The SLC delegation was led by Rev. Fr. Rumpearl Tenkings Isaac, CICM, Vice President for Mission and Identity, along with members of the teaching and non-teaching staff.
Anchoring on the theme, “Constellations, Not Isolated Stars: Hope that Teaches, Heals, and Defends,” the assembly brought together Catholic educators from diocesan schools and Catholic academic institutions across Region 1 and Abra.
In his welcome message, Rev. Msgr. Manuel S. Bravo, Jr., CEAP Regional Trustee, emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among Catholic educational institutions. He reminded participants that they form “a constellation, not isolated stars,” underscoring that schools do not stand alone but are interconnected in their shared mission of shaping value-grounded students.
Also present at the event was Hon. Shirley C. Agrupis, Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), who, in her message, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Catholic higher education institutions across Region 1 and Abra through continued collaboration and support.
In his keynote address, Most Rev. Renato P. Mayugba, DD, discussed the importance of fostering hope among educators and students. He emphasized the crucial role of not only reading the signs of the times, but also actively engaging with them.
Dr. Dennis Prince Germano led two plenary sessions in the afternoon program. His first presentation on “Safe and Enabling Learning Environments (From Infrastructure to Psychosocial Safety),” underscored the role of schools in fostering secure and supportive learning spaces for students, particularly amid growing concerns over school violence. This was followed by his presentation on “Teacher Well-being and Retention: Addressing Burnout and Systemic Pressures Under: Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum Transformation,” which highlighted the challenges faced by Catholic educators and presented strategies to promote their well-being and sustain a committed teaching workforce.
Following the afternoon plenary sessions, the assembly proceeded to the presentation of newly elected regional officers. Ms. Angelica Joy C. Marzo of SLC was elected as the Committee Chairperson on Programs (JEEPGY) of the CEAP Region 1 + Abra Regional Council 2026-2029, tasked with leading the regional integration and strategic implementation of CEAP’s core advocacy pillars across member schools.
The event concluded with the announcement that the Diocese of San Fernando, La Union will host the next CEAP Region 1 + Abra Annual Assembly.
Through its active participation in the assembly, SLC-SFLU reaffirmed its dedication to advancing values-centered education, equipping its delegates to return as beacons of hope, unity, and transformational leadership within and beyond the SLC community.
