Students from the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) program of Saint Louis College (SLC) brought pride to the Louisian community after securing 1st Runner-Up (2nd Place) at the 7th eGov Awards 2026, held in conjunction with the recently concluded Women in STEM Summit 2026 in the City of San Fernando, La Union.
Representing the institution were Liam Kurt Kasten Edaño, Justine Harvey Taningco, and Cherish Jaerelle Viloria, whose innovation and teamwork stood out among participants from various institutions.
Guided by their coach, Mr. Jake Vincent Casugay, the team presented SHERCLE, a mobile-based SOS and Community Support System designed to provide faster and more accessible emergency response. The application features emergency alerts, live location sharing, and incident reporting, empowering users and strengthening coordination among responders and authorities.
More than just a technological solution, SHERCLE embodies its mission of Salwad (protection), Healing, Empowerment, Responsiveness, Community, Livelihood, and Equality—forming a “circle of safety” that connects individuals, communities, and support systems.
The achievement highlights not only the technical competence of SLC’s BSIT students but also their commitment to developing innovative solutions that address real-world challenges, particularly in promoting safety, inclusivity, and community resilience.
This milestone stands as a testament to the Louisian spirit of excellence and innovation, as students continue to make meaningful contributions in the field of information technology.
