Forging international ties and establishing institutional connections abroad, Saint Louis College of San Fernando, La Union (SLC-FLU), through the Global Affairs Office (GAO), inked on October 10 a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Saigon Business School, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Dr. Leo Esteene Galap, Global Affairs Officer, led the ceremonial MOU signing between SLC-SFLU and SBS via Zoom cloud meeting, held at the SLC-SFLU conference room.
Gracing the conference were Rev. Fr. Roderick G. Villamar, CICM, Ph.D., College President; Dr. Lea L. De Guzman, Vice President for Academic Affairs; and Mrs. Helen R. Tugade, Vice President for Administration, who participated in the ceremonial signing.
Meanwhile, Dr. Hoang Van Cuong, SBS Managing Director,b and Vu Ha Phurong Uyen, SBS International Program Assistant, represented their institution in the online conference, signing the MOU virtually.
The MOU between SLC-SFLU and SBS was intended to “promote Internationalization at Home (IaH)” and to “increase the number of students and faculty participation” in internationalization (IZN) activities.
Moreover, the areas of collaboration include short-erm academic programs or student exchange, staff exchange or mutual visits to institutions, and collaborative online international learning. There will also be mutual exchanges of publications, journals, reference materials, and research, as well as fostering other beneficial activities.
Prior to the ceremonial MOU signing, SLC-SFLU and SBS conducted an initial meeting last September 25 via Google Meet, as they pointed out the areas of interest for both parties in line with their respective institutions’ IZN vision.
College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) and School of Advanced Studies (SAS) will be the lead department representatives of SLC-FLU to collaborate with SBS in this partnership.
As forefronts in this IZN linkage, Dr. Caroline G. Pajimola, CBA Dean, and Dr. Jose Pangngay, SAS Dean, attended the conference to show their enthusiasm for this IZN initiative.
The Program Heads from the CBA Department also attended the event. They were Dr. Perlita G. De Guzman, CPA, for Accountancy; Dr. Lee Jordan C. Acosta, EdD, for Hospitality and Tourism Management; Esther F. Cabello, MBA, for Office Administration; and Feliza May C. Villanueva, MBA, CMITAP, AFP, CEPP, CWP for Business Administration.
Viviene Aisha Gugol-Baker, Head of the College Information and Marketing Office, and Jocel R. Opena, Program Head of the Liberal Arts, also attended the event, as they provided assistance in the signing and hosting, respectively.
SLC-SFLU GAO upholds its commitment to introduce IZN and a global mindset by forming international partnerships with institutions abroad.
