The Philippine Association for Counselors and Educational Specialists (PACERS), in collaboration with Saint Louis College–San Fernando, La Union (SLC-SFLU), held its 2026 Midyear Conference on September 10–11 at San Luis del Mar, Baccuit Norte, Bauang, La Union, bringing together mental health professionals for two days of learning, professional development, and discussions on creating safer spaces for diverse communities.
The conference focused on strengthening Filipino counselors’ capacity to address emerging mental health concerns in academic and community settings. It featured sessions on intersectional identities, Psychological First Aid (PFA), and child behavioral interventions, equipping participants with practical approaches applicable to their professional practice.
The second day of the conference highlighted discussions on intersectional identities, Psychological First Aid, and child behavioral interventions, alongside research presentations tackling lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) concerns and psychosocial issues among adolescents.
Through the exchange of professional knowledge, research, and practical interventions, the conference provided mental health practitioners with opportunities to deepen their understanding of issues affecting individuals and communities, particularly within educational settings.
The two-day event concluded on September 11, reinforcing the importance of continued learning and collaboration among mental health professionals in promoting safe and supportive spaces in the community.
