Saint Louis College of San Fernando, La Union (SLC-SFLU) joined education institutions in evaluating the SEA-Teacher Programme during the Evaluation Meeting on October 20, 2026, at Seda Manila Bay. Organized by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Secretariat and hosted by Philippine Normal University (PNU), the conference gathered representatives from the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Thailand to discuss ways to improve pre-service teacher education.
Representing SLC-SFLU were Dr. Darel V. Mananquil, Dean of the College of Arts, Sciences, Technology and Education (CASTE), and Dr. Leo Esteene L. Galap, Director of the Global Affairs Office (GAO). They joined institutional coordinators and other participants in reviewing the SEA-Teacher Programme’s 11th Cohort, examining its strengths, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
Through thematic discussions and plenary sessions, participants identified practices to sustain and developed recommendations with proposed responsibilities and timelines. The regional evaluation highlighted the importance of collaboration, effective programme coordination, and continuous assessment in strengthening international teaching experiences.
For SLC-SFLU, participation in this dialogue supports efforts to provide future educators with meaningful international learning opportunities. By engaging in regional programme evaluation, CASTE and GAO contribute to discussions that can help enhance pre-service teachers’ professional preparation, intercultural understanding, and readiness to teach in an increasingly interconnected world.
