CIMO Head Joins International Creative Design Program in Indonesia

Saint Louis College of San Fernando, La Union (SLC-SFLU) continues to strengthen its internationalization efforts as Ms. Viviene Aisha Gugol-Baker, Head of the College Information and Marketing Office (CIMO), participates in the CommTECH Highlight 2026 โ€“ Creative Design hosted by Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) in Surabaya, Indonesia from July 20 to 31, 2026.
This international mobility program brings together university students, academics, and professionals from various countries to explore innovative approaches to addressing societal challenges through collaboration, technology, and intercultural learning. Gugol-Baker’s participation forms part of the College’s continuing commitment to developing globally competent personnel who can bring international perspectives and best practices into institutional communication and engagement.
Carrying the theme “Solving Local Problems with Global Knowledge,” CommTECH Highlight 2026 promotes the exchange of ideas among participants while showcasing how technology and innovation can be harnessed to create sustainable solutions for communities. The program also serves as a platform for building international networks and fostering future academic and professional collaborations.
As a participant in the Creative Design stream, Ms. Baker will take part in workshops, seminars, and experiential learning sessions focusing on design thinking, user-centered design, digital media, and sustainable design practices. The specialized track introduces participants to ITS’ research and expertise in creative design and visual communication, equipping them with practical knowledge that can be translated into their respective institutions.
Beyond the academic sessions, CommTECH offers an immersive cultural experience through visits to government and non-government organizations, community engagement activities, Indonesian language classes, traditional music and dance workshops, educational tours, and opportunities to experience Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage and cuisine.
Hosted annually by ITS, CommTECH Camp is designed to deepen participants’ understanding of community and global issues while encouraging meaningful intercultural dialogue and collaboration. Through participation in internationally recognized programs such as CommTECH, SLC-SFLU continues to advance its internationalization agenda by empowering its personnel with global competencies that enrich institutional practice and strengthen the College’s engagement with the international academic community.
