The SLC Samtoy Dance Troupe proudly represented La Union and the Philippines at the Ilocos and Pangasinan–Korea Tourism Showcase and Exchange held from November 4 to 7, 2025, in South Korea. The group’s participation was made possible through the invitation of the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU).
Under the artistic direction of Rufino Nilo Maltu, Jr., the troupe delivered captivating performances that highlighted the rich cultural heritage of La Union. Their graceful yet powerful movements narrated stories of Filipino identity, unity, and pride—earning admiration from both local and international audiences.
The event served as a meaningful platform for cultural exchange, showcasing the artistry of La Union’s youth while strengthening the ties between the Philippines and Korea through shared appreciation of culture and tourism.
In expressing their gratitude, the SLC Samtoy Dance Troupe thanked the Provincial Government of La Union, headed by Governor Mario Eduardo Ortega, and Public Administrator Ramon Torres for their trust and support. The group also extended their appreciation to the Department of Tourism Korea–Philippines for the opportunity to participate in this international event, as well as to DOT Region 1, led by OIC Regional Director Evangeline Dadat, for their continued inclusion of the troupe in regional cultural initiatives.
Special acknowledgment was also given to Sir Gerardo S. Cacanindin Jr. for his coordination and guidance, and to Ma’am Joy for assisting with the documentation and travel preparations.
The troupe credited the success of their international engagement to the unwavering support of Rev. Fr. Roderick G. Villamar, CICM, Ph.D., Saint Louis College Management, the Provincial Government of La Union, and DOT Region 1.
Through their performances in Korea, the SLC Samtoy Dance Troupe once again proved that La Union’s culture and artistry can stand proudly on the global stage—bringing honor not only to the province but also to the entire Louisian community.
