Saint Louis College of San Fernando, La Union (SLC-SFLU) participated in Timpuyog: 2025 ASEAN Conference for Region 1 Higher Education Institutions held on September 29, 2025 at the Convention Hall of Pangasinan State University, Lingayen, Pangasinan. The institution was represented by Dr. Leo Esteene L. Galap, Director of the Global Affairs Office.
The conference served as a significant platform for celebrating ASEAN diversity and strengthening regional collaboration in internationalization. It also featured presentations on student-led SDG Innovators’ Initiatives and ASEAN SDG Living Labs. Her Excellency Nina Yulianti, Education and Culture Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Manila, delivered a presentation on Strengthening Regional Unity through Education and Collaboration, while Atty. Lily Frieda M. Milla, Director of CHED International Affairs Service, presented on the Commission’s Support to Regional Collaboration through Internationalization.
Also, SLC-SFLU participated in the Commitment Signing Ceremony during the conference together with other Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Ilocos Region to manifest dedication to fostering global engagement, academic collaboration, and the continuous pursuit of excellence in higher education. This also shows that SLC-SFLU affirms its strong commitment to internationalization as a vital means of enhancing learning opportunities for both students and faculty.
Morover, SLC-SFLU was awarded a Certificate of Commendation during the Awarding Ceremony of the Internationally-Ranked HEIs in Region 1 to recognize its exemplary performance in the 2025 World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), where the institution attained the 37th place in the Crisis Management Category and the 42nd place in the Ethics and Integrity Category. The commendation was received by Dr. Galap on behalf of the institution. This recognition underscores SLC-SFLU’s steadfast commitment to academic excellence, global engagement, and ethical leadership in higher education.
