A solemn Memorial Mass in honor of Pope Francis was held today, April 25, at the Transfiguration of Our Lord Chapel of Saint Louis College – San Fernando, La Union. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Jean Bosco Makolo, CICM, and attended by Grade 7 learners, selected college students, faculty, and staff of the institution.
The community gathered in prayer and reflection to remember and celebrate the life, legacy, and inspiring leadership of the late Holy Father, Pope Francis, who passed away on April 21, 2025, at the age of 88.
In his homily, Fr. Makolo highlighted the enduring impact of Pope Francis’ teachings—his call for compassion, humility, and mercy. He reminded the faithful of the Pope’s powerful message not to judge others, not to discriminate, and to always extend a hand to the poor and marginalized.
The Mass served as a moment of unity and deep spiritual reflection for the Louisian community, as they offered prayers of thanksgiving for the Pope’s life and guidance, and entrusted his soul to God’s eternal embrace.
“May Pope Francis rest in God’s loving arms,” the community prayed in unison.
