A team of five students from the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) programs at Saint Louis College of San Fernando, La Union (SLC-SFLU) proudly clinched 6th place nationwide and 2nd place regionwide in the 24th Inter-Collegiate Finance Competition (ICFC). The event took place on November 22, 2024, at the University of the Cordilleras in Baguio City.
The ICFC, organized by the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX) in partnership with JPMorgan Chase & Co., is the country’s most prestigious academic competition for college students in finance, banking, and economics. Over 96 participating schools across the nation – 37 from the National Capital Region/South Luzon, and 59 from regional institutions – gathered to test the financial acumen of students in a highly competitive setting. Among these institutions, SLC’s exceptional team stood out, displaying extraordinary skill, teamwork, and determination during the rigorous same-day Regional Eliminations and National Final Rounds.
The SLC team, composed of Trina Jane Ayala (BSBA FinMan-4), Rosemarie Opiz (BSBA FinMan-4), David Ireland (BSA-4), Kristine Mae Sia Lopico (BSA-4), and Kharyl Balderama Ramirez (BSA-4), was accompanied by Mrs. Yvonne Joyce T. Dian, the adviser and coach of JFINEX SLC Chapter. Their victory reflects not only their dedication but also the staunch support and mentorship of the esteemed faculty members of the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) department, led by Dr. Caroline De Guzman Pajimola, CBA Dean.
This remarkable achievement highlights the collective efforts of the students, mentors, and the entire SLC community, guided by faith in God, the ultimate source of wisdom and talent.
