PRBOA Inspects Saint Louis College Architecture Program: Ensuring Compliance with Quality Standards

The Professional Regulatory Board of Architecture (PRBOA) conducted an inspection and monitoring visit at Saint Louis College of San Fernando, La Union, on September 24. The activity, held at the Mini-Auditorium of the new (College of Engineering and Architecture) building, was aimed at ensuring the institution’s compliance with quality standards for its Architecture program.

Representing the Philippine Regulations Commission (PRC) were Hon. Robert S. Sac, Ar., PRC-PRBOA Chair, and Hon. Corazon F. Tandoc, Ar., PRBOA Member. They were accompanied by Mr. John Adrian J. Malagotnot, PhD, OIC Chief of the Regulation Division PRC Regional Office 1.

The PRBOA, empowered by the PRC Modernization Act of 2000 or RA 8981, is responsible for monitoring and upgrading the quality of education in colleges and universities offering Architecture programs. This visit is part of their mandate to ensure that educational institutions maintain high standards.

During the event, Engr. Melvin R. Esguerra, Dean of the College of Engineering and Architecture, Ar. Rolando O. Caasi, Jr., OIC Program Head, Ar. Pete Carl Anthone Q. Abrenica, Architecture Laboratory Custodian, led the presentations of SLC’s services, laboratories, facilities, and other academic exhibits. Faculty members from the Architecture program were also present, contributing to the discussions. Interviews were done by the PRBOA Chair and members based on the presentations. Faculty members had an open forum with the PRBOA after.

The board shared their findings and provided recommendations for improvement, citing examples of top-performing institutions in the Architecture Licensure Examination (ALE).

SLC remains committed to collaborating with the PRC to ensure that its Architecture program continues to meet and exceed regulatory standards, providing students with a quality, globally competitive education.
