Empowering Research Mentorship: Faculty Training on Panel Defense and Research Process

The faculty members from the Civil Engineering, Architecture, and Criminology programs participated in a Faculty Research Capacity Training held on September 15, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Mini-Amphitheater of the College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) Building.
The session was facilitated by Mr. Justin Ian Ogoy, the Research Coordinator of the School of Advanced Studies, who served as the main resource speaker. The training primarily focused on the art of questioning and effective mentoring during panel defense sessions, equipping faculty with strategies to guide student researchers more effectively. Participants were also given the opportunity to share their best practices, raise concerns, and engage in discussions related to their responsibilities as research advisers and panel members.
The event proved to be a productive and enriching experience, reinforcing the faculty’s commitment to fostering a research-oriented academic environment.
Earlier in the program, Mr. Flores, Head of the Research Management Office (ResMO), provided updates and an orientation on the revised procedures for both the Research Auxiliary Services and the Research Ethics Review Process, ensuring that faculty members are aligned with the latest institutional protocols.
We, the ResMO, express our gratitude to the faculty and the CE, Arch, and CRIM programs heads for their active participation and support for our continual improvement.
