SAS Hosts Seminar on Enhancing Reporting Standards for Graduate Research

The School of Advanced Studies (SAS) of Saint Louis College successfully conducted a research seminar on May 8, 2025, with the theme “Reporting Standards for Qualitative Research.” The event aimed to enhance graduate students’ understanding of proper research reporting aligned with journal publication standards, further strengthening their academic and professional competencies.

Dr. Jose J. Pangngay, Academic Dean of SAS, opened the seminar with an insightful discussion on Journal Article Reporting Standards (JARS) for Qualitative Research. He emphasized the importance of clarity, coherence, and transparency in scholarly writing to meet the rigorous expectations of academic journals.

Adding depth to the seminar, Mr. Justin Ian Ogoy, SAS Research Coordinator, presented strategies for conducting Mixed Methods Research. His session provided practical guidance on integrating qualitative and quantitative approaches to produce robust and well-rounded studies.

Ms. Jhaynee Lou P. Tudayan-Del Moral, SAS faculty member, rounded out the presentations with a talk on JARS for Quantitative Research. In addition, she oversaw the administration of the Graduate Research Aptitude Test, a vital step in assessing and guiding students on their research journey.

The seminar was part of SAS’s continuing efforts to cultivate a research-oriented culture, empowering students to meet global publication standards with competence and confidence.
