The course Practicum: Mission and Identity of the School of Advanced Studies (SAS) serves as an avenue to deepen and concretize the CICM Missionary Identity through a discipline and research-based practice resonating the attributes of an ideal CICM graduate which are Life-Integrated Person, Compassionate Missioner, Globally-Enterprising Leader, Ethically-Committed Steward, and Socially-Engaged Professional.
The course deals with the “new areopagi of mission” in today’s context. The faculty and students, as a missionary response, engage in a transformative service learning by doing extension based on the research output of the needs assessment survey.
“ALAY ALALAY”: A Rehabilitation Program Assistance for the Welfare and Development of Persons Deprived with Liberty of San Fernando City Jail, La Union is the pioneering program of SAS Practicum: Mission and Identity. It aims to extend additional rehabilitation program for the PDLs welfare and development activities and opportunities for the Second Semester of the Academic Year 2022-2023.
The Program Management Team is composed of the students enrolled in the course: Ms. Erna A. Milanes and Mr. Cyrus Jed G. Ramos as Program Coordinators; Ms. Avigail Candelario, Ms. Jerennette Dario and Mr. Arnold Navarrete as Project Leaders under the guidance of the Course Facilitator Leilani O. Sanidad, EdD, JD. The projects include income generating project of PDLs, financial literacy, book donation project and distribution of health care kits for PDLs.
The program is in partnership with the School of Advanced Studies Student Council, The Center for Art, New Ventures and Sustainable Development (CANVAS) and Department of Health, San Fernando City, La Union.
