SDGs

Sustainable Cities and Communities

Like grassy fields hidden under paved streets, the inherent responsibility as protectors of creation is buried under all the urbanization ideas. However, like stubborn strands of grass that seep even through the thickest slabs of concrete sidewalks, Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), pushes for fulfillment of the role as stewards of creation while supporting societal development to accommodate every individual in every community.

What used to be once towering trees have transformed into rows of skyscrapers, freshwater streams are now congested by road traffic, air that was once refreshing is now often polluted. What once served the human race benefits is now encouraging us to find solutions that support both perpetual development and environmental health.

The 11th SDG encompasses having sustainable, accessible, and resilient residential settlements and public spaces to improve transportation systems which will significantly lessen carbon emissions and improve air condition, ultimately leading to sustainable cities and communities. Initiatives and policies aligned with this universal goal reinforces the idea that protected lands can co-exist with humanity’s imperative needs for capacities that support the ever-evolving demands of society and promote sustainable urbanization.
