SLC Pre-Elementary Pupils Celebrate Filipino Culture in Laro ng Lahi

The SLC Conrado Dela Cruz Sports Center brimmed with energy when Pre-Elementary and Special Needs Education (SNEd) pupils from the Basic Education Schools (BEdS) took part in the much-awaited Laro ng Lahi event on February 26, 2025. The celebration brought together pupils, parents, guardians, teachers, and visitors in a vibrant showcase of Filipino traditional games and community spirit.

BEdS Principal Mrs. Maria Magdalena M. Evangelista began the event and welcomed everyone present.

“The Laro ng Lahi is more than just an event filled in with fun; it is an opportunity for celebration of our rich Filipino heritage while strengthening bonds within our community among ourselves. Today, we witness the joy, the learning, and the unity these customary games bring for us,” Mrs. Evangelista stated.

The pupils, divided into four color-coded teams—yellow, red, blue, and green—engaged in classic Filipino games that tested their agility, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Children cheered for their peers and embraced the spirit of friendly competition.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, parents and teachers actively joined in the games, creating an inspiring display of community involvement. Their participation not only motivated the young players but also underscored the importance of family and school support in the holistic development of children.

Beyond the competition, Laro ng Lahi served as a poignant reminder of the enduring charm of traditional Filipino games in an increasingly digital world. The event successfully fostered friendships, strengthened family ties, and left participants with cherished memories—truly embodying the essence of sportsmanship, unity, and cultural pride at Saint Louis College.
