SLC-IT teams advance to Final Judging in 3rd Inter-School Start-Up Competition; AgurAI emerges Champion

Two (2) teams from the Saint Louis College–Information Technology Program advanced to the Final Judging of the 3rd Start-Up Competition sponsored by the City Government of San Fernando, La Union, held on November 28, 2025 during the Smart and Sustainable Communities Summit.

From the pool of finalists, the 𝗔𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗔𝗜 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 proudly 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻, a huge milestone for SLC’s IT Program. Their winning entry, AgurAI: Advanced Geo-intelligent Urban Rides using Artificial Intelligence, is an AI-powered transport platform designed to make commuting in San Fernando City smarter, faster, and more inclusive.

AgurAI features real-time passenger counting with 99%+ accuracy, ensuring that only rides with available space are shown to commuters. Through a mobile app and solar-powered waiting sheds, users can access live route maps, while drivers and LGUs gain valuable data insights for route optimization and transport planning. By reducing wasted trips and lowering emissions, the system presents a sustainable and highly practical solution to urban mobility challenges.

Competing against talented young innovators from various schools, SLC’s IT students impressed judges with a project that seamlessly blended innovation, feasibility, and social impact. From ideation to final pitching, the journey required perseverance, collaboration, and bold creativity. This victory is a strong manifestation of their dedication through the mentorship of Mr. Jake Vincent R. Casugay.

Winning the 3rd Inter-School Start-Up Competition is not an endpoint but a launching ground. It inspires the team and the entire SLC community to continue refining ideas, advancing solutions, and contributing meaningfully to the growth of smart and sustainable communities.
