Saint Louis College of San Fernando, La Union (SLC-SFLU) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today, December 11, 2024, to officially seal its partnership with Shinawatra University (SIU) of Thailand via the online platform Zoom.
College President, Rev. Fr. Roderick G. Villamar, CICM, Ph.D., was accompanied by other SLC-SFLU representatives, namely Rev. Fr. Rumpearl Tenkings Isaac, CICM, Vice President for Mission and Identity; Dr. Lea L. De Guzman, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Mrs. Helen R. Rugade, Vice President for Administration; Dr. Marilou C. Mondina, CASTE Dean; Dr. Caroline G. Pajimola, CBA Dean, Engr. Melvin R. Esguerra, CEA Dean; Dr. Jose J. Pangngay, SAS Dean; Dr. Leo Esteene L. Galap, Global Affairs Officer; and Mrs. Viviene Aisha Gugol-Baker, Head of the College Information and Marketing Office.
Shinawatra University, established on December 27, 1999, is a private international university nestled in Bang Toey Subdistrict, Sam Khok District, Pathum Thani Province, in Thailand. Associate Professor Zhou Fei, President, signed the MoU, as witnessed by their representatives, Dr. Pratikshya Bhandari, Director of International Affairs; Dr. Sujin B., Dean, Faculty of Psychology; Dr. Sipnarong, Deputy Director of the Institute of Multidisciplinary Postdoctoral and Franchise Program of SIU; and the Faculty of Engineering.
The ceremonial MoU signing heralded the beginning of academic collaboration, exchange programs, professional development initiatives, research collaboration, and sharing of resources between the two institutions. In particular, the emphasis on promotion of Internationalization at Home Activities, and the implementation of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), reflect the forward-thinking nature of this partnership by taking full advantage of the use of technology, bringing global learning experiences to the classrooms.
Fr. Villamar, in his message, stressed that this collaboration will prepare students and faculty members of both institutions to navigate and contribute to an increasingly interconnected world in a globalized environment.
SLC-SFLU, through its Global Affairs Office, remains steadfast in forging meaningful partnerships and linkages with institutions both locally and internationally. These collaborations aim to bring transformative programs and projects that enrich and empower the entire community.
