SLC attends the 1st Autonomous and Deregulated Awarding Ceremony to PHEIs

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) granted Saint Louis College of San Fernando La Union (SFC-SFLU) Autonomous Status during the 1st Autonomous and Deregulated Awarding Ceremony to Private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Pasay City. The certificate of recognition is received by Rev. Fr. Roderick G. Villamar, CICM PhD, College President, together with Mr. Tomas R. De Austria, Jr., College Registrar, and Dr. Leo Esteene L. Galap, Global Affairs Officer.

In his message, Dr. J. Prospero “Popoy” de Vera III, the Chairman of the CHED, reaffirmed the vital role of HEIs in nation-building. Dr. de Vera also encourages HEIs to strive for innovation and excellence for the ultimate goal of further enhancing the quality of education in the country.

Out of 1,700+, there are only a total of 92 institutions, or less than 6% of the CHED-recognized private HEIs across the Philippines, to receive such a recognition. This means that SLC-SFLU manifests commitment to program excellence; excellence in instruction, scholarly works, and community engagement; and institutional quality and excellence. This makes SLC-SFLU a paragon pillar of quality education in the Philippines. SLC-SFLU is one of the only 2 HEIs in the entire Region 1 granted such recognition.
