Psychology Instructor presents research, builds global partnerships in Indonesia through the IFM Program

The Psychology Program continues to advance its internationalization efforts as Ms. Precious Sharizz Bautista, a college instructor, participated in the International Forum on Mental Health and Positive Wellbeing on February 9–13, 2026 at Airlangga University (UNAIR), Surabaya, Indonesia. During the forum, she served as a visiting lecturer and research presenter. Her participation was made possible through the International Faculty Mobility (IFM) Program of the Global Affairs Office (GAO), which aims to foster knowledge exchange with internationally recognized higher education institutions and organizations.

During her visit, Ms. Bautista delivered a lecture on Subjective Wellbeing and presented her research on Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACOAs) to psychology students, faculty members of UNAIR, and other forum participants. She also attended lectures in the field of cyberpsychology, examining the psychological effects of social media and Artificial Intelligence (AI) on human interaction and overall well-being.

Through this academic engagement, Ms. Bautista was exposed to psychological frameworks developed within the Indonesian context, particularly those highlighting the vital role of character development in the educational system. She likewise gained insights into the current mental health landscape in Indonesia, including prevalent psychological concerns affecting both adults and children.

The cultural dimension of the forum further enriched her experience, as she explored parallels between indigenous concepts such as Hutang Budi in Indonesia and Utang na Loob in the Philippines, underscoring shared values of social reciprocity and their influence on behavior and interpersonal relationships.

Looking ahead, Ms. Bautista also participated in strategic meetings with university administrators to discuss prospective collaborations, with particular interest expressed in SLC-SFLU’s community engagement programs.

Overall, Ms. Bautista’s diverse experiences in knowledge exchange and cultural immersion through her participation in the international forum reaffirm SLC-SFLU’s commitment to faculty professional development as a key component in achieving its mission of holistic student formation.
