CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, La Union — Showcasing their God-given vocal talents as artistic Louisian representatives, Saint Louis College Chorale (SLCC) participated in the Northern Luzon Cluster Regional Semifinals of the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) 2024 on September 21.
Despite the rainy weather, participants from various schools in the northern region still convened at the La Union Convention Center to display their skills in rondalla and choir competitions.
SLCC competed against representatives from Regions I and III, namely Ilocos Norte National High School (INNHS) Youth Choir and Tarlac National High School (TNHS) Special Program in the Arts Music Chorale, respectively.
Only one out of three participants in the youth choir was chosen to advance to the national level, and the INNHS Youth Choir secured the spot.
Nonetheless, SLCC gave their best in performing their rendition of Sanctus by Gerard Dela Pena, Dona Eis Requiem by Ralph Hoffmann, and BALLAYGI by Arwin Tan, impressing the crowd with their harmony and synchronization. Ms. Marinol Padilla, the SLCC Adviser, displayed her techniques as a conductor as she led the group in their presentation.
College President, Rev. Fr. Roderick G. Villamar, CICM, PhD, and Vice President for Mission and Identity, Rev. Fr. Rumpearl Tenkings Isaac, CICM, attended the event and showed their enthusiasm and support for SLCC.
SLC highlights Louisian talents and recognizes its continued commitment to empowering these gifts through significant exposures, strengthened through the institution’s active support for the Center for Culture, the Arts and Heritage.
