Saint Louis College of San Fernando, La Union (SLC-SFLU) further advanced its collaborative relationship with Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), Indonesia, through an official institutional visit and dialogue on August 7, 2025. The engagement served both as a formal courtesy call and a platform for in-depth discussions on prospective academic partnerships.
Representing SLC-SFLU were Dr. Leo Esteene L. Galap, Director of Global Affairs, and Dr. Rhonalie B. Apilado-Dumo, Program Head of Teacher Education. They were received with warm hospitality by UMM’s Vice Rector, Muhamad Salis Yuniardi, M.Psi., PhD, together with Vice Deans Bayu Hendro Wicaksono, M.Ed., PhD, and Prof. Dr. Sugiarti, M.Si. Also in attendance were the heads of the various education program specializations of the university.
The meeting underscored the alignment of SLC-SFLU’s priority internationalization initiatives with UMM’s global engagement vision. Dr. Galap presented the framework for the implementation of programs such as Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), alongside other proposed avenues for academic collaboration.
Following the discussion, the Office of Internationalization facilitated a guided tour of UMM’s expansive 38-hectare campus, featuring academic buildings, a grandstand, hotels, a mosque, a hydropower plant, a gasoline station, and other state-of-the-art facilities.
The visit reaffirmed the mutual commitment of SLC-SFLU and UMM to deepening international cooperation and expanding opportunities for students, faculty
