The InteLect is a program that serves as a platform to enrich the academic environment of the institution by engaging credible and qualified international lecturers from partner institutions and linkages to share their expertise and diverse perspectives in their respective fields through a lecture session or lecture series. By inviting lecturers, the program seeks to expose students and faculty members to global perspectives, innovative practices, and international trends on their respective fields.
This initiative may be organized as a one-time lecture or as a continuing series of lectures, depending on the need of the College and the scope and focus of the academic collaboration. Regardless of its format and duration of implementation, InteLect will serve as an avenue for deepening disciplinary knowledge, broadening intellectual horizons, and enhancing professional competencies. By means of engaging international lecturers and audience, the program also creates opportunities for intercultural academic dialogue, thereby strengthening the institution’s commitment to internationalization and global engagement.
The program adopts the value statement, “Providing Global Perspectives” which underscores the core purpose of the International Lecture: to broaden understanding by presenting ideas, experiences, and expertise drawn from diverse international contexts. The statement highlights the program’s commitment to exposing participants to varied academic, cultural, and professional viewpoints, enabling learners and educators to engage with field and industry issues beyond local or national boundaries. Through this platform, knowledge is enriched by fostering critical thinking and a deeper appreciation of global interconnectedness.
Objectives of the Program
The program intends to achieve the following objectives:
- to build and strengthen global connections by cultivating sustainable partnerships with international and national institutions, thereby fostering collaborative engagement and academic exchange;
- to provide avenue for the students and faculty to internationalize the learning experience in interesting classroom discussions by incorporating global perspectives from international lecturers;
- to establish a basis for curriculum enhancement anchored on internationalization of learning which is further geared towards globally relevant learning outcomes; and
- Increase the number of students and faculty who participate in internationalization programs initiated by GAO.
