Roots of Tomorrow: Capacity Building for Parents of Children in Child Development Centers

The Roots of Tomorrow: Capacity Building for Parents of Children in Child Development Centers is a collaborative initiative of Saint Louis College of San Fernando, La Union and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), facilitated by the dedicated SPEd and Kindergarten Teachers. The community extension service activity seeks to strengthen parents’ capacity to actively support their children’s learning journey both at home and in school. It focuses on four key areas: Building Positive Relationships, which empowers parents to develop trust, empathy, and collaboration with their children, teachers, and fellow parents; Effective Communication, which enhances respectful and confident interactions that foster understanding and cooperation within families and the school community; Play-based Learning at Home, which equips parents with creative and practical strategies to transform everyday activities into meaningful learning experiences; and Creating a Caring Community, which inspires parents, teachers, and community members to work together in promoting shared responsibility, compassion, and inclusivity.
By empowering parents as partners in early childhood education, we can nurture a community where every child can grow and thrive.
