SLC participates in Career Development Support Program

The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Balaoan, La Union, in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), conducted a Career Development Support Program for grade 10, 11, and 12 learners from various secondary schools in the municipality from February 18 to 21, 2025.

Saint Louis College of San Fernando, La Union (SLC-SFLU) was one of the selected higher educational institutions to present its academic programs and services on the first day at Bungol National High School and Butubut National High School. SLC-SFLU was represented by Mrs. Viviene Aisha Gugol-Baker, CIMO Head, and Mr. Monte Carlo B. Zuniega, Marketing Supervisor. They provided learners with a comprehensive discussion on potential academic paths, including future careers they should consider upon entering college. After the discussion, various Louisian merchandise were awarded to lucky students who participated in and won the games.

In addition to SLC-SFLU, other speakers from PESO and DOLE provided learners with enriching presentations focused on career development. Engr. Nadine Joy S. Concepcion, Balaoan PESO Manager, and Ms. Charito C. Dator, La Union Provincial PESO Manager, discussed the programs and services offered by PESO. Meanwhile, Mrs. Bernadette May M. Mamitag, SLEO, DOLE LUFO, delivered a talk on key employment generators and provided insights into labor market trends, which will be valuable to the learners after their graduation.

The three-day activity aims to help students make informed decisions about the academic programs they should consider based on their strand. This program is a collaboration between the local government unit of Balaoan, La Union, and the educational sector, with a focus on one of the sustainable development goals, which is quality education. SLC-SFLU is grateful for the opportunity to present its programs and services to the students of the municipality.
