Mr. John Carlo Manabat, the Department Head of Social Sciences of Basic Education Schools (BEdS) of Saint Louis College of San Fernando, La Union, joins a short-term project-based learning program entitled CommTECH Camp Insight 2025, Stream 1, SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Innovation spearheaded by Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Surabaya, Indonesia, from February 3 to 14, 2025.
CommTECH Camp Insight is a program that includes courses, visits, and discussions with government and non-government agencies, societal engagement, and immersion in Indonesian culture. In particular, Mr. Manabat participated in Stream 1, SDGs Innovations. This is an immersive program that focuses on the innovative implementations of SDGs at ITS and in Surabaya. The two-week program highlights the discussions of SDG awareness, site visits, sharing of students’ movements in SDGs, a trip to Bromo mountain, including preparation and presentation of the final project.
As part of the requirement of the program, Mr. Manabat was chosen to lead one of the groups of the delegates to prepare and present a project based on their insights from the training, where he bagged the 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝. This award recognizes the team that delivered the most outstanding and impactful presentation during the Innovation Project Presentation. The recipient of this award demonstrated exceptional clarity, engagement, and persuasiveness in communicating their innovative solution aligned with the SDGs.
Promoting mobility shows SLC-SFLUs’s commitment to enriching the academic, research, and cultural experiences of the faculty members, and, in extension, the students. This is also a way to increase the visibility of the institution to the international community to cultivate respect for cultural differences, thereby increasing the likelihood of an inclusive learning environment.
