Coming from a very humble background in the rural town of Balaoan,La Union, Fr. Olivar was not deterred by the scarcity of life but rose from poverty to top his class. He was a high school teacher and College Instructor before he became a missionary to the Babuyan Islands in the Northern Philippines. Currently he os the Vice-President for Religious Affairs at the Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Intramuros, Manila.
